A Bittersweet Ending
The end of Spring Break Camp is always bittersweet. We spent the morning at Green Hill Park pitching tents, building sand castles, and practicing some mindfulness exercises.
Conquering Fears
Caving day! Caving taps into a lot of people’s fears: dark places, tight spaces, and the unknown. We had some girls who had never caved before, and there was some nervous excitement beforehand.
Hiking Stiles Falls
The weather turned the corner today right in time for our hike up to beautiful Stiles Falls.
Practicing Positive Self-Talk
Today, we had fun challenging ourselves at The Peaks Retreat & Adventure Center on their rock wall and awesome zip-line, and we also took some time to reflect on how we can be kinder to ourselves.
Spring Break is Here!
Animals we pet today included: dogs, salamanders, tadpoles, caddisflies, a blue-tongued skink, and…wait for it…a chinchilla.

An Adventure Day at Hollins University
This weekend, we visited Hollins University to feel INSPIRED. Established in 1842 and serving as one of the first institutions for the higher education of women in America, Hollins University is a gem nestled in the heart of the Roanoke Valley.

Exploring Self-Portrait
Yesterday was the perfect day to get cozy with a cup of hot cocoa and a paintbrush. We partnered with Canvas & Coffee Art Café and Commonwealth Catholic Charities to hold an “Exploring Self Portrait” event, which was led by Wild Wayfarer SoJo Haire.

We have big news - The Wild Way is HIRING! We are looking for a part-time, salaried Adventure Coordinator to help us plan, organize, and lead our events and a college student to serve as a Field Intern who helps with our summer programming.

2025: A Year in Review
2025 has been a fantastic year for The Wild Way. We have been fortunate to experience incredible growth, deeper community relationships, and continued opportunities to build this organization into what our community wants and needs.
Holiday Horseback Riding
We are wrapping up 2026 on a high note with our annual Christmas horseback riding tradition! We visited Spring Valley Farm for an introduction to riding and a morning on their trails.
