SUPing with Commonwealth Catholic Charities

Earlier this week, we took a group of Afghan girls from Commonwealth Catholic Charities out for an Introduction to Paddleboarding. These girls were absolutely thrilled that they had the opportunity to swim in the river and paddle a SUP. We also had our intern Emily and Wild Wayfarer Caroline set up microscopes and nets so the girls could learn about the macroinvertebrates in our local waterways. And we were also joined by British Swim School of Roanoke-Lynchburg for a water safety demo!

We’re fortunate to have these bright and bold young ladies in the Roanoke Valley, and we’re already looking forward to future adventures with them.
