Hitting the Trails with Roanoke Star Cycling

The Wild Way and Roanoke Star Cycling took a group of girls out to Carvin's Cove for an Introduction to Mountain Biking day. RSC is our local youth mountain biking team, and their coaches know exactly how to get girls up and feeling comfortable on the trails. We started by talking about bike checks and safety, and then they had the girls do laps in an open field to practice neutral and active position, braking, and shifting. Then we hit the trails. There were some pretty challenging sections that had the girls traversing rocks, logs, and roots, but everyone felt safe and had an absolute BLAST.
