Intro to Stand-Up Paddleboarding: Tuesday, June 9th (click here to enroll)

  • Wasena Park 1001 Winchester Avenue SW Roanoke, VA, 24015 United States (map)

There is no better place to be on a hot summer day than on a stand-up paddleboard (SUP).

The Wild Way is offering a relaxed Intro to SUPing on the Roanoke River. Working with American Canoe Association-certified Level 2 SUP Instructor Alex Siple, the girls will learn basic SUP strokes and maneuvers and river safety basics. This event is appropriate for beginners, but there will also be opportunities for experienced SUPers to grow their skills. We will paddle around a calm part of the river near Explore Park, play some fun games, and enjoy a relaxing picnic on the shores.

No paddling experience is necessary, but we do require that participants know how to tread water. This event is open to girls ages 9 to 14.

TRANSPORTATION: Transportation is provided to this event. We will meet at Wasena Park at 9am and return by 3pm.

PAYMENT: The Wild Way’s activities are offered on a sliding scale fee. After filling out the application below, you will be directed to a site where you can make your preferred contribution amount. Our services are FREE to families in need. Please don’t hesitate to request a fee waiver.

Note: When asked if you'd like to make a contribution to keep Zeffy free, select "other" and then type $0.00. You do not need to pay an additional fee!
