Wildly Nourished - Foraging and Farming: Tuesday, July 28th (click here to enroll)

  • Lick Run Farm 1626 10th Street Northwest Roanoke, Virginia, 24012 United States (map)

Note: This event is exclusively for participants from partner organization Commonwealth Catholic Charities.

The natural world has all the things that we need to nourish our bodies and souls; we just need to know where to look.

Wildly Nourished is a new workshop series focused on wild foraging and farming practices. A collaborative workshop series led by The Wild Way, Garden Variety Harvest’s Lick Run Farm, and TerraVie Wellness, our goal is to help youth build an appreciation of local foods and healthy eating.

Working with Maya Ittah from TerraVie Wellness, girls will learn about local, edible wild plants and spend some time gathering and foraging. After gathering plants, Lick Run Farm manager Chloe Johnson will teach them about urban farming and help them pick freshly grown produce. And in the afternoon, we will bring all of our ingredients together to cook a healthy lunch! This is part of the Roanoke Foodshed Network's HCAT grant program.

TRANSPORTATION: Transportation is NOT provided to this event. We will meet at Lick Run Farm (1626 10th Street NW) at 9am and finish by 1pm. If transportation is barrier to participation, please let us know and we can try to help.

PAYMENT: This event is free for Commonwealth Catholic Charities participants.
