Fillin’ the Boat
Best 4th of July weekend EVER. The Wild Way went fishing with Wesley Hodges Fly Fishing on the James River last weekend and absolutely filled our boats.

Kayaking Springwood to Buchanan
Yesterday, the girls switched it up from SUPs to kayaks and paddled from Springwood to Buchanan with Mosby (our other Wild Way mascot).
July 2025 Paddlesports Camp Kick-Off
First day of July Paddlesports Camp at Carvin’s Cove. We were spared the storms and got to enjoy a beautiful sunny day on the water.
SUPing with CYP
Another great day on the water! We partnered with Community Youth Program (CYP) to hold an Introduction to Stand-Up Paddleboarding for their girls.
Staying Cool in the Summer Heat
Stay cool. Today, we visited Roanoke Mountain Adventures for some Greenway bike riding and Roanoke River tubing.
SUPing at Fairy Stone State Park
Last day of Paddlesports Camp for the West End Center at Fairy Stone State Park.
Practicing River Safety & Rescue
Yesterday, we had a River Safety & Rescue class at Wasena Park. The girls learned about how to prepare for a paddle trip, read the river, swim defensively upstream to safety, and how to assist their friends who need help.
A Roaring Good Time
The river was still high yesterday, so we found another way to have fun in the water. We visited Roaring Run, one of our favorite spots for a short hike and a summer swim.
High Water = Fun Floating
The river was up today after heavy rains, so no paddling…but we could still float! (Literally.)
WEC Paddlesports Camp 2025
It’s PADDLE season, and we’re kicking it off with our West End Center Paddlesports Camp. We have some new faces this year, and we were excited to introduce the girls to stand-up paddleboarding on Carvin’s Cove today.
Who Knew Water Bugs Could Be So Cute?
Science rocks, y’all. Yesterday we visited Green Hill Park for some SUPing on the Roanoke River + macroinvertebrate exploration.

The Wild Way is honored to be the Roanoke Co+op's CHANGE! recipient in the month of June. The CHANGE! program gives shoppers the opportunity to ‘round up’ their change to donate to nonprofit organizations doing great work in our community.
Outdoor Climbing at Hanging Rock
Yesterday, the rain held off long enough for us to get in a solid day of OUTDOOR CLIMBING at Hanging Rock. These girls held nothing back, and we had some serious climbing from veteran and beginner climbers.
